Why this role is on the menu

We are seeking a strategic Senior Contracts Procurement Manager to lead our contract management function and forge supplier partnerships. The Senior Contracts Procurement Manager at Instacart will serve as a key point of contact, enforcing our enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and execution of procurement contracting.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this role drives business-term negotiations, ensures seamless partnership with organizations such as Legal and Third Party Review (TPRM), and delivers measurable value through risk-adjusted, cost-optimized agreements. The Contracts Senior Manager balances commercial agility with rigorous compliance to enable Instacart’s scalable growth.

What you'll cook up in your first year

Governance

  • Procurement contract policies, playbooks, and templates are developed and enforced in lockstep with Legal, TPRM, and Finance, with clean documentation maintained to support SOX and internal audit processes.
  • KPIs including contract cycle time and compliance rates are tracked and reported, with routine performance updates presented to stakeholders.

Business-Term Negotiations

  • Strategic, high-value, and high-complexity contracts are personally led through the full procurement contract lifecycle, securing optimal outcomes across SLAs, scope, exit clauses, payment terms, and auto-renewals.
  • Business requirements are gathered from internal stakeholders and translated into enforceable contract language, with supplier relationships preserved throughout.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Criteria are developed with Legal for contracts that can be executed without Legal engagement, reducing redline cycles by 50% through pre-approved clause libraries.
  • Fallback positions are developed and maintained in collaboration with Legal, with redlines outside approved positions escalated for Legal review.
