Our pipeline performance system enables us to achieve both quality and speed. **Employment type:** Contractor **Location:** Remote (residents of Japan) **Role Overview** Help train the next generation of personal robots. Using the UMI gripper (a wearable device that mimics a robot's hand and allows natural movements for performing tasks), you will record high-quality video demonstrations of everyday household tasks. Your demonstrations will serve as training data for robots to learn how to perform tasks in real homes. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Using the UMI gripper (wearable device), record and submit high-quality video demonstrations of everyday household tasks that comply with specifications. 2. Follow detailed task-specific instructions to ensure all recordings meet the project's strict standards. 3. Review feedback from the assigned reviewer and continuously improve your methods to enhance data quality. 4. Set up and operate the recording equipment and UMI gripper so that actual hand movements can be accurately reproduced during work. 5. Communicate proactively and clearly, both in writing and verbally, with the client's project team. 6. Maintain a stable weekly workflow to meet the minimum requirements for approved data. **Required Skills and Qualifications** 1. Sharp attention to detail and the ability to follow complex specifications accurately. 2. Manual dexterity and experience performing precise physical work in various home environments. 3. Comfort operating, wearing, and setting up dedicated devices and recording equipment. 4. Ability to incorporate feedback and continuously improve work processes and deliverables. 5. Strong written and verbal communication skills (a positive attitude toward quick feedback exchanges). 6. Constant access to a well-equipped home environment in Japan (kitchen, living space, common household items). 7. A stable, high-speed home internet connection capable of uploading large video files. 8. This role involves using a VR headset for extended periods. Applicants should be comfortable wearing it for long durations as part of normal work. **Preferred Skills and Experience** 1. Genuine curiosity about personal robots, AI, and emerging home technologies. 2. Experience in data collection, usability research, or similar hands-on projects. 3. Patience for repetitive, precision-demanding work and flexibility in adapting to changing project needs. **Compensation Structure** Starting at a standard rate of $12 per hour, the effective hourly rate can increase up to $21 as your work efficiency improves. Payment is based on the number of hours of completed video, so the faster you work while maintaining quality, the higher your effective hourly rate will be! **Start Date and Availability** Hiring decisions are usually made within 48 hours, so we are looking for candidates who can start immediately. If you pass the screening, we ask that you begin your first task as soon as you complete the application process. We expect tasks to begin within approximately 24 hours after onboarding is completed. **Equipment Requirements** For this project, you will perform household tasks while wearing a VR headset and a set of wearable hand-tracking gloves that record hand movements and work footage. All equipment will be provided free of charge, and we will provide detailed guidance on setup and use during onboarding.
